You have the dress.

The flowers are chosen.

The invitations have been sent.

Your Pinterest boards have officially gotten a little out of control.

You are planning one of the biggest days of your life, and somewhere in the middle of all of that planning, there is you.

Not just the bride.

YOU.

And that is exactly why I love bridal boudoir.

Bridal Boudoir Is So Much More Than a Gift for Your Groom

A lot of brides first come to me because they want to create an amazing wedding gift for their future husband.

And listen...a beautiful boudoir album waiting for him on your wedding day?

YES.

That is one heck of a wedding gift. (cue googly eyes)

But somewhere between booking the session and seeing her photographs, something usually changes. She realizes the gift wasn't only for him. It was for her, too.

Because your bridal boudoir session gives you a moment during this crazy, wonderful season of your life to stop thinking about seating charts, timelines, flowers, dresses and everyone else's needs.

For a few hours, you get to simply be taken care of.

And girl, you deserve that.

You Do NOT Need to Know How to Pose

This is probably one of the biggest things I hear:

"But Shadlee, I have no idea what I'm doing in front of a camera."

GOOD.

You don't need to.

That's my job.

Most of the women I photograph are not models. I don't expect you to walk into my Lincoln boudoir studio knowing what to do with your hands, where to look or how the heck you're supposed to make that sexy face without feeling ridiculous.

I show you.

I guide you from the top of your head all the way down to your tippy toes, including your hands and facial expressions.

You don't have to arrive feeling confident.

You just have to arrive.

I'll take care of the rest.

What Do You Wear for a Bridal Boudoir Session?

This is where we get to have FUN.

White lace is beautiful for bridal boudoir, but you absolutely do not have to limit yourself to white lingerie.

Bring the things that make this season feel like yours.

Your veil.

Your wedding shoes.

A special piece of jewelry.

Your future husband's favorite shirt.

Your garter.

A bodysuit you feel amazing in.

We will go through your wardrobe together and decide what photographs beautifully and, more importantly, what feels like YOU.

If you show up with an entire suitcase, I will happily dig through it with you.

Your Bridal Boudoir Experience Starts With Being Pampered

Your session isn't supposed to feel like another thing you have to prepare for.

I want it to feel like the opposite.

Your boudoir experience includes professional hair and makeup at a luxe salon in downtown Lincoln, Nebraska.

You get to sit down, relax and let someone take care of YOU for a change.

Then we head into your session, choose your wardrobe and create something that feels beautiful, feminine, sexy and still completely like you.

There is no performing here.

There is no requirement that you suddenly become "more confident" before you walk through my door.

This experience meets you exactly where you are.

The Best Part Might Be Seeing Your Photographs

There is something pretty incredible about watching a woman see herself differently.

Because we are SO good at finding our own flaws.

The things we wish were smaller, tighter, smoother or different.

But that isn't what I am looking for when I'm photographing you.

I'm looking at your expression.

Your curves.

The way the light hits you.

Your softness.

Your strength.

The woman standing in front of me right now.

And when you see your finished photographs, I want you to see HER too.

That is the part of boudoir that matters to me.

When Should You Book Bridal Boudoir Before Your Wedding?

Please don't wait until two weeks before the wedding and send me a panicked message. HA!

If you want a professionally designed boudoir album to give your partner on your wedding day, I recommend reaching out several months before your wedding.

That gives us time to plan your session, photograph it, choose your favorite images and have your artwork created without adding one more last-minute thing to your wedding list.

And if your wedding has already happened?

Who says bridal boudoir has to happen before the wedding?

A boudoir album makes an incredible first anniversary gift, too.

Pull that veil back out.

You've already invested in it. We might as well give it another moment.

But Here's What I Really Want You to Know

Your wedding photographs will preserve the day you married the person you love.

Your bridal boudoir photographs preserve something different.

You, in this exact season of your life.

Years from now, your body may look different.

Your life will probably look different.

There may be babies, careers, moves, wrinkles, gray hairs, beautiful chaos and a whole lot of life between the woman you are today and the woman you will become.

I want 70-year-old you to open that album and remember her.

The woman who was excited.

Nervous.

In love.

Beautiful.

Sexy.

And standing right at the beginning of a brand-new chapter.

THAT is why you do this.

The fact that your partner gets the best wedding gift ever?

That's just a really fabulous bonus.
